About Us

Mission

The Healthcare Management Student Association (HMSA) provides its members with real-world skills in order to create competent health administration professionals. We strive to uphold our values of: scholarship, leadership and professionalism.

Values

Scholarship - We continually encourage our members to be involved in the educational process, and to take an interest in learning more about the field of health policy and administration.

Leadership - In today’s rapidly changing world of health administration, we emphasize the importance of providing programing that will allow members to be competitive leaders in the workforce.

Professionalism - Whether it be in the classroom, or in the boardroom, we teach members to carry themselves with integrity and provide them with the tools to create lasting professional networks.

Activities

HMSA provides students interested in health services administration with opportunities to enhance their knowledge of effective leadership skills in health care organizations and to develop their professional networks within the health care community. Here is a list of some of the activities with which HMSA is involved:

Speaker Series -  HMSA brings in professionals from the local healthcare community to speak to students about trending topics and developments in their field. We’ve had speakers with a wide range of backgrounds.

Professional Development Series - HMSA provides students with opportunities to develop and polish their networking and career-seeking skills.

American College of Healthcare Executives - Members of the USF Healthcare Management Student Association are also encouraged to join and participate in educational and networking events hosted by the ACHE Western Florida Chapter. Members attend the annual ACHE conference as well.
