
Jordan Kutner is a true Florida native who has dedicated himself to transforming the healthcare landscape. Born and raised in the Sunshine State, Jordan pursued his passion for healthcare administration at the University of South Florida, earning both his undergraduate and master's degrees in the field. Since then, Jordan has made significant strides in the healthcare industry. He embarked on his career with Gastro Florida in 2018, starting as an Administrative Resident and eventually rising to his current role as Director of Operations. Jordan's impact extends beyond his workplace. He collaborates closely with the USF MHA program, offering valuable part-time experiences and internships to aspiring healthcare leaders.

Erika Domenech, a Puerto Rico native and graduate of the University of South Florida’s Master of Health Administration program (Class of 2022), is a Project Manager specializing in hospital operations and healthcare construction. She led the development of her organization’s first Project Management infrastructure, enabling strategic initiatives in facility renovation, capacity expansion, and process improvement. Erika has overseen multimillion-dollar projects including a freestanding ER, specialized procedure rooms, and ICU unit expansions. She is passionate about advancing healthcare delivery and aims to grow as a leader in hospital operations and strategic planning across the Tampa Bay Area.

Scott Arnold joined the senior leadership team of Tampa General Hospital in 2010 and currently serves as Executive Vice President – Chief Digital and Innovation Officer. Prior to joining Tampa General, Scott served as a Vice President for Mercy Health in Saint Louis, Missouri and held leadership positions with Daleen Technologies, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace. Scott serves on the Board of Directors multiple subcompanies for Florida Health Sciences Center, Inc., a former board member for the Tampa Bay Health Information Exchange and a current board member for the Tampa Bay Humane Society.
In late 2023, Joseph (Joe) Primavera, MHA, FACHE, joined Johns Hopkins All Children’s as the executive director for the Cancer and Blood Disorders Institute. Prior to moving to Florida, Joe was the Oncology Service Line Leader at Indiana University Health, East Central Region, where he was responsible for regional operations and strategy across medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion and supportive services at three locations. He also led the growth and sustainability of participation by these centers in a statewide precision genomics program and oral chemotherapy navigation program. Joe earned a bachelor of science in public health – health administration and a master of health administration at Indiana University. Joe recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and holds multiple certifications in lean and quality processes. His wife, children (Henry & Lucy), and sheepadoodle fill his time outside of work with excitement and adventure!

Col James A. “Andy” Stewart is the Deputy Commander and Administrator of the 6th Medical Group, MacDill Air Force Base (AFB) Florida. In this role, Col Stewart oversees an annual budget of 46 million dollars and a medical staff of 522 personnel providing medical support to more than 145,000 beneficiaries, the Department of Defense’s largest single-unit prime service area. The group enables world-class healthcare to a rapid global air refueling wing, two Joint combatant command headquarters, 32 mission partners and representatives from 50 international coalition nations. Additionally, the 6th Medical Group provides Diagnostic Imaging support to Air Force bases in eight states, provides surgical services at five civilian Tampa Bay area hospitals, and executes the Air Force’s Nurse Transition Training Program in partnership with Tampa’s only Level-1 Medical Trauma Center.
Capt Daniel L. Straw Jr. is the Senior Group Practice Manager at the 6th Medical Group, MacDill Air Force Base (AFB) Florida. During the first professional development series event, HMSA members learned how to build a resume and write a cover letter. Gabriella provided guidance on formatting, tailoring resumes, and highlighting transferable skills. Attendees also received feedback on their current resumes, learned strategies for showcasing accomplishments, and explored tips for aligning their experiences with internship and job descriptions. The workshop provided students with practical tools to stand out in a competitive job market while building confidence in their professional development.

Michael Parsons is the Director of Strategy Operations for TGH Women's Institute and Muma Children's Hospital. During the speaker series event, Michael discussed his career journey starting as a Patient Access Specialist, the many diverse positions in between, to his title as a Director of Strategic Operations. Michael Parson's elaborated on his huge role in the system wide service line restructure of TGH Women's and Children's and the challenges he faced along the way. The most important aspect of his career success has been being open-minded and open to receiving feedback. He believes a great leader constantly asks how they can better serve their team and adjust their communication style accordingly. Celebrating small wins and embodying TGH's AKTiVe Leadership model has proved pivotal to the growth of his team.

During the third professional development series event, HMSA members learned how to build a resume and write a cover letter. Kishan shared what the goals of both a resume and cover letter are, while also sharing helpful tips on how to ensure these documents highlight an individual's qualifications and interest for a position. Formatting both a resume and cover letter were discussed, focusing on the importance of proofreading. Important takeaways from the event included:

He discussed the challenges he faced along the way and provided valuable insights on leadership, emphasizing the importance of empowering teams to feel valued and respected. Arjun highlighted how the book Extreme Ownership by former Navy SEAL Jocko Willink has been a crucial resource in helping him navigate difficult situations. His presentation offered aspiring healthcare leaders a meaningful perspective on leadership and the realities of managing departments at USF Health.

During the second professional development series event, HMSA members learned about how to develop a LinkedIn profile. Amber shared tips and tricks to consider when building a profile including choosing the right profile and background photo, having a concise “about section”, and when to post. LinkedIn Learning was also discussed, where individuals can complete courses to diversify their skill set and add display course certificates to their LinkedIn profile. Amber engaged members through an activity in which HMSA members used their personal LinkedIn QR code to expand their network with fellow HMSA members. Natalie Leone works for Suncoast Community Health Centers Inc. as a Clinic Administrator. She educated our members on Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Suncoast’s focus on addressing community needs. She recounted her progression as Intern to Compliance and Financial Analyst to Special Project Analyst which has led her to her current role as a Clinic Administrator. She emphasized the importance of career flexibility, adapting to changes, and learning from mistakes. Dr. Ed Rafalski is the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer for BayCare Health System. During the speaker series event, Dr. Rafalski shared his educational background and the mentors he gained while attending school. Dr. Rafalski graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in public policy studies, attended Yale and received a master’s degree in public health, and earned his Ph.D. in public health sciences from the Division of Health Policy and Administration at the University of Illinois, School of Public Health. Dr. Rafalski shared his expertise with HMSA members about strategic planning, business development, real estate, marketing, health plan brand & member acquisition, digital strategy, and contact center operations.
