About Us
Ethics & Debate is a student lead organization that hosts open conversations on controversial topics and provides students the opportunity to compete locally, nationally, and internationally. We have three branches main branches consisting of two competitive options and one non-competitive option. The first branch consists of our general body meetings and events and is purely conversational. We allow students to host meetings on controversial issues in an open and honest environment where every perspective is valued. The second branch focuses on competitive speech and debate. These meetings prepare students of competitions held year-round through NPDA (National Parliamentary Debate Association) as well as intercollegiate forensics (a form of speech and debate in which multiple events are held such as speech giving, acting, poetry, one on one debate, etc.) *Note: this branch is currently inactive but is dependent on student interest*. The final branch looks at competitive ethics, where we prepare for two main competitions. The first, the Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl, consists of discussion based analysis where ethical dilemmas are put into case form and rationalized by the competing teams. The second is the International Business Ethics Case Competition, where students figure out a solution to an unethical practice in a selected business that not only prevents further unethicality but also increases profits.

If any of the branches pique your interest, if you are interested in ethics, debate, business, public speaking, politics, acting, poetry, or just a good conversation, this is the place for you.
