Mission Ethics & Debate is a student lead organization that hosts an open conversation on controversial topics as well as allowing students the opportunity to compete internationally. We have three branches in which students can choose what they wish to participate in. The first branch is our general meeting and is purely conversational. This branch allows students to host meetings on topical issues in an open and conversational environment where every perspective is valued. The second branch focuses on competitive speech and debate. These meetings prepare students of competitions held year-round through NPDA (National Parliamentary Debate Association) as well as intercollegiate forensics (a form of speech and debate in which multiple events are held such as speech giving, acting, poetry, one on one debate, etc.). The final branch looks at competitive ethics. This branch prepares students for two main tournaments. The first is in fall and is the Southwest Regional Ethics Bowl where ethical dilemmas are put into case form and rationalized. The second is the International Business Ethics Case Competition. This competition has students figure out a way in which a modern big company can solve an ethical dilemma while not affecting/ increasing profit for the company. If any of the branches pique your interest, if you are interested in ethics, debate, business, public speaking, politics, acting, poetry, or just a good conversation, this is the place for you.
