About Us
Survivors of sexual violence and intimate partner violence are patients that will be encountered along every stage of the healthcare journey and in every specialty. Advocacy for Survivors aims to bridge the educational gap on how to support survivors in a trauma-informed way both in healthcare and as a friend. AFS focuses upon providing educational events by professional advocates, physicians, and more, and organizing outreach events to health students. AFS also organizes students to sign up to volunteer with our partner organization the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay in emergency departments to advocate for a patient undergoing a forensic or medical exams.
