A part of life in Florida is Hurricanes. How a community prepares can influence how well that community can pull through, and in some cases survive.

As part of the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement's (CLCE's) Civic Conversation Series, this panel of guest speakers from on and off campus will discuss the different roles their institutions or departments play in preparing a community for an emergency weather event. Speakers for this event will include:

Adam Freeman - Interim Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer with USF University Communication and Marketing
Dexter Barge - Assistant County Administrator for Compliance, Communities, and Conservation with Hillsborough County
Julian Gines - Community Engagement and Outreach Manager with the University Area Community Development Corporation
Grant Gundle- Director of Emergency Management with USF Department of Emergency Management
USF Police Department

As a result of attending this event, students who actively listen and engage in the discussion will:
• Become aware of the roles institutions play in community readiness
• Be able to explain the need for community awareness and readiness leading up to a high-risk weather event
• Identify different institutions and describe their influence on community readiness
