About Us
The mission of EMRIS is to promote education equity by supporting refugee and immigrant high school students as they pursue higher education. We recognize that students come from different backgrounds and face different challenges. Therefore, we aim to reduce barriers and create a support system for students who are unfamiliar with the collegiate application process in America. Through one-on-one mentoring, we assist students with FAFSA applications, college applications, essay editing, and SAT tutoring, while also offering English language support to strengthen communication skills. Mentors volunteering with EMRIS have the ability to change a student’s trajectory by providing access to opportunities that empower them to pursue futures they once believed were out of reach.
