Details

This service opportunity is particularly special as it is not only meant to be in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, and his contributions to a more accepting, caring, and collaborative society, but to also celebrate Stampede of Service’s (S.O.S’s) 20th anniversary. For two decades USF Bulls have been going out into the community and have been making Tampa Bay a better place for all its residents.

You are signing up to participate in “Paint the Town” on Saturday, January 17th, an annual event put on by one of our Community Partners, University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC). This will be UACDC’s 14th year doing “Paint the Town”, making it one of Tampa’s signature service events of the year. For this event there are a few things to keep in mind. Please read ALL event details to ensure you are prepared for this event.

Pre-Service details:
After registering for this event on BullsConnect, you will be redirected to a Volunteer Release and Waiver Form. This is UACDC’s requirement for volunteering. You will not be allowed to volunteer without this form being completed, so make sure to fill it out.

Please dress accordingly. This service event will be taking place outside, in the middle of January, for about 3 hours. Closed-toed shoes are required, but also consider:
- Pants instead of shorts
- Shorts of appropriate length
- Sunglasses
- Hats
- Sunscreen
- Fanny Pack, Cross Body Bag, or Small Backpack to carry belongings.

Transportation will be provided. If you require transportation, please meet in the Marshall Student Center Atrium (MSC) at 8:00am. The bus transporting people to the service location will leave the MSC at 8:15am. The bus will only make one trip to and from the service location, so if you need transportation, make sure to be on time.

Service Event Details:
- You will be provided with breakfast at the beginning of the event from 8:30am – 9am. If you plan on driving yourself, and would like breakfast, please plan to arrive around a similar time. If you are not interested in the free breakfast, please arrive before 9am, to ensure a smooth check-in.

- You will also be provided with a T-shirt from both UACDC and our office. To help us best allocate our T-shirts, and to ensure you get the correct T-shirt size, please complete the T-Shirt Form that will be emailed to you before the event.

- Most USF Students will be assisting in trash pick-up around the service area during the volunteering window.

- After volunteering, UACDC will provide a meal for lunch for all volunteers from 12pm – 1pm. If you plan to drive yourself, you are free to leave after the service ends at 12pm, or you can stay for lunch, and leave on your own time. We will provide transportation back to campus, with the bus leaving at 1pm, and returning to campus at 1:15pm.

Thank you for your contribution to the Tampa Community, as it is greatly appreciated by the CLCE, USF, and our community partners around Tampa Bay. Please feel free to email bryanstark@usf.edu with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you on January 17th! Happy start to the Spring Semester, and as always, GO BULLS!
