A Message From the President
Greetings Everyone!
I am happy to invite you to be a part of the SOQM community! This year, we will have a fascinating journey to the world of qualitative inquiry across disciplines! If you are interested in how to conduct qualitative research, how to communicate it to various audiences, how to embrace your researchers' positionality in the inquiry process, how to navigate ethical considerations, methodological limitations, IRB procedures, and more, welcome aboard!
SOQM is a student organization that aims to provide academic support to USF graduate students interested in exploring and/or using qualitative research methods. We try to foster a creative atmosphere to facilitate collaboration and provide students with an outlet for the exchange of ideas, resources, and knowledge. In the past years, SOQM has united graduate students within the College of Education. This year, we want to engage students from all the colleges and departments and encourage interdisciplinary collaborations.
We host Webinar Series, socials, workshops, and an Annual Qualitative Inquiry Symposium. We have a Writing Studio and monthly newsletter with valuable information about upcoming academic events, calls for proposals, funding opportunities, fascinating articles, and books, qualitative methods course offerings across disciplines, and news from SOQM members. Also, we organize trips to qualitative inquiry-related conferences and allocate several travel grants for participating members.
