This Friday, March 6th, in CMC120 from 1-2pm, Cooper O'Kuhn will be giving a talk on a Numberphile problem he worked on during high school, which turns out to have surprising connections to number theory; see details below.

TITLE: The Mondrian Puzzle: A Connection to Number Theory

ABSTRACT: Popularized by the YouTube channel Numberphile, the Mondrian Puzzle is a problem concerning certain ways one can tile a square with rectangles. Surprisingly, the problem can be attacked using concepts from Number Theory, including Sieve Theory, divisor functions, and the study of perfect numbers.
