The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an internationally recognized academic competition that challenges graduate students to communicate the core ideas of their research in a clear, compelling, and engaging way—in just three minutes.

You can think of 3MT as a fun, fast-paced competition where graduate students have just three minutes to explain their research to a non-expert audience (people outside your research area). You are allowed one static slide—no animations, no videos, and no props.
The challenge isn’t speed, and it isn’t about how much work you’ve done. It’s about clarity, storytelling, and how well you can share your enthusiasm for your research with the audience.
