Surgical Outcomes Research Team was started in 2019 by Dr. Christopher Ducoin with only three medical students at the time with the intention of creating a group to help medical students grow in their abilities to conduct research. Today, our growing research achievements continue to reflect our clinical focus and to improve our services with over fifty members consisting of medical students and residents working together on a plethora of research projects. Many projects run within the fields of General Surgery, Bariatric, and Colon, however, efforts have been made to expand to Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and Spine. Through our basic science work we bring investigative innovations to the clinical forefront, providing the therapies of tomorrow to our patients today. Our projects consist of but are not limited to: retrospective studies, meta-analysis, systematic reviews, case reports, and random control trials. Special recognition has been achieved by many of our clinical programs, augmented by our basic science and scholarly work, and the division boasts a significant number of peer-reviewed publications.
Work closely with a dedicated group of medical students and physicians, gaining knowledge and resources about the research and submission process in a variety of medical specialties. Quick moving projects and a constant stream of new ideas that are discussed in biweekly meeting to address any concerns and check in on progress.
