Humane Society Volunteering Sign-Up

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is welcoming the Pre-Physician Associate Society to volunteer on Friday, September 12th, 2025, at the HSTB Main Shelter Building. 

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay is a local nonprofit organization that is committed to ending animal homelessness by providing shelter, adoption, veterinary care, and comfort to those animals in need. If you are unable to attend, please contact me at least 24 hours prior to the event and cancel your registration on bulls connect to ensure that others can participate! 

Location: HSTB Main Shelter Building - 3607 N Armenia Ave Tampa Fl 33607  

Time: Friday September 12, 2025 @ 8:30-11 am 

Task:  You will be assigned to take the dogs out for walks outside, which is one of the primary tasks. You may also help in the cat areas with cleaning, making treats, or doing special projects! 

Parking 

• You may park in any street parking or overflow lots across Armenia Avenue at Braddock St. or Gulf Fabrics (look for HSTB signs). Please do not park in lots directly in front of the shelter, in the garage, or on the Leroy St. side of Gulf Fabrics (reserved for employees). Best parking options: Lots #1, 4, and 5. Meeting place is near Lot #8. Parking Map 

Where to Meet 

• Head to the gazebo and seating area on the left side of the building. A staff member will greet you at the start of the shift. 

Dog Walking Protocols 

• Always supervise your dog, clean up after them, and enjoy the outdoor space. Interact with the dogs—they love this time! For safety, no cell phone use while walking dogs. Please watch this video before you come: https://youtu.be/QHY974SodNc.  It is very important to watch the dog's behavior while you are walking them for safety 

Attire 

• Closed-toe tennis shoes only (No slides, flip flops, Crocs, or sandals). Comfortable clothes (longer pants/leggings), and no tank tops, crop tops, or open backs. 

Other Important Notes:  

Be mindful of allergies, you may meet various animals. Do not enter medical isolation areas or walk dogs with “Staff Only” signs. Hand washing is essential between litters of kittens or puppies to prevent illness spread. No photos in the Lower Level (Kennels 1–6). Photos are allowed of adoptable animals on the main floor.
