Cost: $40. Includes transportation, lodging, food, educational and training materials, and experiences.
Purpose:
This Bulls Service Break experience will immerse students in the full cycle of food insecurity response — from education and service to distribution and impact. Students will engage with the systemic challenges of hunger, gain insight into food bank operations, and directly serve individuals and families in need in the Central Florida community.
Learning Outcomes
By participating in this trip, students will be able to:
Understand the root causes and scale of food insecurity in Central Florida through a guided educational tour.
Describe the operational model of a regional food bank, including food sourcing, sorting, and logistics.
Contribute to hunger relief efforts through hands-on donation sorting and food packing activities.
Reflect on the impact of community partnerships by assisting in a food distribution event alongside local feeding partners.
Connect civic engagement to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
