Details
This interactive session will introduce key safety tips for navigating campus, including pedestrian awareness, bike and e-scooter riding practices, parking and locking tips, helmet use, and everyday strategies for staying visible and alert.
Led by CUTR Safety Ambassadors, the session will include short presentations, hands-on demonstrations, a fun safety quiz, small giveaways, and time for student questions.
Tentative Agenda:
12:00 – 12:05 PM | Welcome and Introduction
Welcome new students and introduce the purpose of the session: helping Bulls travel safely and confidently around campus.
12:05 – 12:15 PM | Walking Safety on Campus
Ruth Sastry Ayalasomayajula will introduce pedestrian safety tips, including crosswalk awareness, visibility, avoiding distractions, and sharing campus spaces safely.
12:15 – 12:30 PM | Bike and E-Scooter Safety Basics
Marvin Osei-Kuffour and Jeremy Fullwood Jr. will introduce safe riding behavior, campus riding etiquette, predictable movement, and conflict prevention.
12:30 – 12:40 PM | Parking and Locking Tips
Safety Ambassadors will demonstrate how to park responsibly and lock bikes or scooters without blocking sidewalks, entrances, or accessible routes.
12:40 – 12:50 PM | Helmet Safety Demonstration
Ruth will demonstrate how to properly fit and wear a helmet for safer riding.
12:50 – 12:57 PM | Fun Safety Quiz and Giveaways
Students will participate in a short interactive quiz to review key safety messages. Small prizes will be available for participants.
12:57 – 1:00 PM | Open Q&A and Closing
Students can ask questions and connect with the Safety Ambassadors.
No bike or e-scooter is required to attend. Students are encouraged to bring their questions about walking, biking, e-scooter riding, parking, locking, helmet use, and general campus travel safety.
