USF is partnering with Duke Energy and the Florida Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) to support their Youth Energy Academy. For over ten years, Youth Energy Academy (YEA) hosts a series of career exploration events throughout Florida, designed to expose youth to careers in electric utility industries and related STEM fields. Utility organizations throughout the state host interactive activities and engaging discussions as well as tours of utility facilities for underserved youth. Check out their website for more info: https://aabefl.org/youth-energy-academy/

The 2026 St. Petersburg session will be held on July 9th and 10th 8:30am - 4pm at the Duke Energy Bartow Power Plant located at 1601 Weedon Island Dr. St. Petersburg, FL.

Volunteers are needed for morning and afternoon shifts to assist with check-in, event set-up, assisting with STEM demos and presentations, and guiding students around campus.
