Dr.
Dr. Lampe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mental Health Law & Policy and a Faculty Affiliate in the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida. Their research program focuses on the behavioral health disparities of LGBTQIA+ aging populations and the health of diverse older adults living with dementia and their family care partners. They are also core faculty with the African American Alzheimer’s Caregiver Training and Support Project 2 (ACTS2), a Florida-based program that offers free skills-building and support services to Black family caregivers of older adults living with dementia. Dr. Lampe is currently PI of a 3-year grant from the Alzheimer’s Association (AARFD-23-1145127) examining Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) risk and protective factors among a cohort of LGBTQ+ older adults in the Southeastern U.S.
Funded by the USF College of Behavioral and Community Sciences, Dr. Lampe is leading a new study that aims to understand the behavioral health and healthcare needs of LGBTQIA+ adults aged 60 or older who are living with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), as well as the needs of their families. Their research team is currently conducting virtual interviews with LGBTQIA+ individuals aged 60+ who manage memory concerns or have an MCI diagnosis, family members of LGBTQIA+ people aged 60+ who manage MCI, and clinicians who routinely provide care to LGBTQIA+ people aged 60+ who manage MCI.
