The purpose of the Relations Committee is to further the influence of students in the legislative process by providing them with a means for direct communication with the Legislative Branch. The Relations Committee deals with four types of business that students can become involved in: resolutions, memorials, surveys, and petitions. Please note that anyone can write a piece of business.

Resolutions: A resolution is a statement backed by the word of Student Government. A resolution requires a senator as a sponsor. If you are passionate about a cause and want to write a resolution for the same you can request the relations committee to do so by requesting that through this form. Memorials: A memorial is a statement in memory of a passed individual or a group. Anyone can write a memorial, but you must have a senator sponsor the memorial. If you want to request a memorial you can do so by filling this form out. Link to a memorial example is provided below.

Surveys: A survey is a poll of student opinion conducted by the Senate Relations committee. A survey shall fulfill a specific need, to be stated in a memo to the Senate and have clear, neutrally phrased questions. Petitions: A petition is a way to voice student opinion on a particular issue, which could potentially result in action by Student Government and/or University administration.
