Join us for the Sustainability Speaker Series featuring Lisa Leseigneur, Waste Reduction and Recycling Specialist, and Angela Fama, Recycling Coordinator, with Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management.

In their presentation, “No Such Place as Away: Talking Trash and Recycling,” Lisa and Angela will explore what happens to our waste after we throw it “away” and how Hillsborough County is working to reduce waste, improve recycling, and encourage more sustainable practices among residents. They will share examples of programs and educational initiatives designed to increase waste diversion and help preserve the local environment.

Both speakers will also share their professional journeys from USF and the Patel College of Global Sustainability to careers in local government, offering students insight into how academic experiences, campus involvement, and community engagement can lead to careers in sustainability.
