Join the Future Strategist Program, USF World, and the Institute of Russian, European, and Eurasian Studies to engage with topics related to international affairs, global partnership, and national security over appetizers from around the world. We are proud to welcome former Canadian Ambassador and Secretary of Multidimensional Security at the Organization of American States (OAS), Adam Blackwell who will give a talk discussing the evolution and transformation of Transatlantic relations, as well as how he navigated these changes throughout his accomplished career. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions to the Ambassador and we look forward to having a incredible event, full of engagement and discussion!

Adam Blackwell began his service in Global Affairs Canada as a representative of the Government of Canada in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, and Kenya in various posts. In 2002, he was appointed the ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Dominican Republic and served in the role until 2005. From there, the Ambassador continued his career, serving as director-general of strategy and services in the Bilateral Relations Branch of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (now called Global Affairs) from 2005 to 2006. Ambassador Blackwell then joined the Organization of American States (OAS) and eventually rose to become the secretary for multidimensional security in 2009, staying in this position until 2016. Today, Ambassador Blackwell serves as Vice President of the International at Development Services Group, Inc. where he is leading a global effort to support the U.S. Department of State Counter Terrorism Bureau to monitor and analyze incidents of terrorism and violence worldwide.
