Join us for Barry Lyndon (1975), a beautifully crafted portrait of 18th-century Europe filmed almost entirely by natural light.

Follow an Irish adventurer across the continent: from misty Irish villages to rigid Prussian army camps, grand English country estates, German castles, and the elegant gambling rooms of Spa. You’ll see pistol duels on quiet fields, officers in crisp uniforms, lavish balls with chandeliers and flowing gowns, high-stakes card games by candlelight, and carriages speeding along tree-lined roads.

It’s all captured with Kubrick’s legendary cinematography. He used special NASA lenses to shoot entirely in natural light and candlelight, making every shot a living 18th-century painting. This stunning beauty is paired with a fatalistic score (Handel's "Sarabande"), which becomes the grand, tragic anthem for Barry's doomed ambition.

Join us on our exploration of European history, classical film, and stunning cinematography!
