SOLIS and the School of Information had several great events during the Fall 2022 semester. Here's a recap in case you missed them! 

Diana Silveira 

Author of Library Technology Planning for Today and Tomorrow was gracious enough to meet with SOLIS to discuss her book and career. Diana has made many valuable contributions to the LIS field including the successful AskALibrarian initiative and assisting with the floridalibraryjobs.com website. Diana and the Tampa Bay Library Consortium also supplied our MLIS students with copies of her book free of charge. Please visit the SOLIS Canvas page for a recording of the event.

GEMS from the Alice G. Smith Lecture with Mika Slaughter Nelson

 The 2022 Alice G. Smith Lecture featured Mika Slaughter Nelson and her talk “Modern Marvels: Mining Gems to Manifest Dreams.” Mika believes "service is our superpower" and offers these gems for manifesting successful library services:

Each year, the USF School of Information (SI) hosts a State of the Program event to discuss accomplishments of the MLIS program, future plans, and to recognize the Jean Key Gates Distinguished Alumni Award winner along with the Outstanding Student Award winner. This year, the SI faculty selected Celia C. Pérez for the Jean Key Gates Distinguished Alumni Award and Maria Feliciano for the Outstanding Student Award.
